Majaliwa's Keynote at BEDC 2024

The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa (MP), has issued seven directives to sectors involved in education, including the College of Business Education (CBE), aimed at improving the sector. He made these remarks today, November 22, 2024, during the launch of the Fifth Business and Economic Development Conference (BEDC) 2024, organized by CBE, held at the Treasury Square in Dodoma.

The Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, in collaboration with stakeholders, to strengthen and enhance business education systems at all school and college levels, ensuring they meet the demands of the job market. He emphasized that curricula should align with economic changes and technological advancements.

Institutions of business education and training were instructed to foster collaboration with the private sector. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in partnership with public and private institutions, was called upon to explore ways to intensify efforts in promoting entrepreneurship among the youth.

Additionally, educational institutions were encouraged to leverage technology to improve business education and to motivate experts to conduct research. The findings from such research should be utilized to enhance business strategies, services, and products.

Hon. Majaliwa also called on all stakeholders, including government institutions, financial institutions, and development partners, to work together to provide financial services to entrepreneurs.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of instilling business ethics education, transparency, and accountability in the business sector. He noted that this would help eliminate unethical practices in business and create a conducive environment for fair opportunities for everyone.
